Our speaker this month will be our new Vice President Brian Burt who will speak on “Education as it Was”. Brian always wanted to be a teacher and was bonded (i.e. sold his soul) to the SA Education Department at the age of 14. He commenced teacher training at Adelaide Teachers College in 1956, completed three months National Service Training at Woodside in 1957 and was a foundation student at Wattle Park Teachers College, graduating at the end of 1957. His first appointment in the SA Education Department was Head Teacher of Telowie Creek Primary School in 1958 at the ripe old age of 19. During his 40 year career, Brian served in nine schools and spent one year as Assistant to the Regional Director in the Elizabeth Regional Office.
